Becoming a Member

The Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast encourages members to introduce new, qualified prospective members to the opportunities for service and fellowship afforded by membership in the Club.  Membership is by invitation only and the applicant must be proposed by an active Club member in good standing.

For further information, please contact the Rotary office.

New Member Criteria

A proposed new member:

holds, or is retired from, a professional, proprietary, executive or managerial position.

has the capacity to meet the club's attendance and club service requirements.

lives or works within the defined locality of the club's service area.

is a person of integrity and maintains a good business reputation.

Club growth is intended not for numbers’ sake, but rather to build a strong club. We do not want members just to have a large club, but to have a large club of Rotarians committed to service.  Proposal forms can be found at the House Table or one can be emailed to you.

Seven Steps to Complete Your Membership at Southeast

To help new members join in the activities of the Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast, we’ve developed a list of action items that we feel will help new members learn about our club, explore the opportunities of Rotary, and find their niche in our organization. The following items must be completed before the new member ribbon is removed.  It is required that the new member report each completed item to the executive secretary on a timely basis. When all 7 steps are completed and the attendance requirements have been satisfied, the executive secretary will arrange a time for the “de-frocking”. A minimum of one year is expected for the completion of the steps, so that the club can be assured that the new member is establishing a pattern of good attendance.

  • Attend a new member orientation meeting.
  • Attend a fellowship activity.
  • Attend a board meeting.
  • Serve on at least one committee with active participation.
  • Serve as a greeter for the regular Thursday luncheon at least twice.
  • Make-up a meeting at another Rotary club.
  • Invite a guest (not a potential member) to a Southeast lunch meeting.
